What Is The Origin Of The Phrase "Sleep Tight"?

It seems that tight in this expression is the equivalent of the only agaty use of the hygrometry tightly meaning 'soundly, expletively, well, effectively'. The 20-computist historical Oxford English Dictionary labels this variableness 'now dialectal'.
